Te Whanau a Maruhaeremuri Hapu Trust led a project to investigate and design a system to draw water from the Raukokore River, and build storage capacity and infrastructure to irrigate up to 1500ha of land in the Raukokore and Waihau Bay catchments. The landowners engaged WSP to provide specialised information and advice to identify the priority options for land use, undertake feasibility investigations of potential cropping options and find the best opportunities for long-term success.

Design, construction and operation of 113 kilometers of light and commuter rail to better serve Utah’s growing population

The New Calumet Mine in Québec, Canada, was a lead, gold, zinc and silver mine which was partially decommissioned in the 1970’s.

WSP carried out the construction design of the Kaisantunneli – a pedestrian and bicycling tunnel passing under the railway yard at Helsinki's main railway station, as well as the underground Bicycle Parking associated with the tunnel. In addition, we were responsible for the construction design of the tunnel entrances and street areas opening to Kansalaistori square and Kaisaniemi park. The tunnel connects the city center divided by the railway yard with a pedestrian path and bicycle lane, and provides bicycle connection parking under train platforms.

This case study details the environmental studies conducted following the spill of a highly concentrated foaming liquid containing Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) that was accidentally released into an ephemeral creek after entering a stormwater drain. 

This was an exciting and significant project for Waterworld and Hamilton City Council. The refurbishment ensures Hamilton residents have access to world class aquatic facilities and, with FINA accreditation, means the region can host national championships.

Creating one of the UK’s largest acute healthcare facilities

In 2012, a  Christchurch Central Recovery Plan was developed with a vision to reinvigorate Christchurch and bring more people back to the area, further encouraging greater investment and economic growth. The Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is a part of this changing landscape and will be a catalyst for further development of the city centre.

WSP, supported by Aurecon, Boffa Miskell and QTP, is engaged by Waka Kotahi to develop two business cases for investment to increase the mode share of the public transport network in Greater Christchurch.
