WSP had a memorable evening at Environment Analyst’s 2025 Sustainability Delivery Awards on June 10, earning three awards and receiving three highly commended recognitions – a testament to our unwavering commitment to driving sustainable transformation and positive change for our people and our communities.
At the heart of WSP’s success lies the dedication and brilliance of our people. This year, David Symons, our Future Ready®1 Global Lead, was honoured as a Sustainability Solutions Leader for championing sustainability and inspiring new ideas and positive change, all with a clear commitment to long-term impact.
Our Future Ready® mindset continues to guide our teams in shaping sustainable communities worldwide. This approach was recognized with two major project wins: the Nature Positive Award went to the Abbotts Meadow Restoration project, which revitalized 365 acres of degraded marsh using repurposed clean sediment, while the Creating Resilient & Sustainable Communities Award went to the Attawapiskat First Nation Water Shortage Emergency project, which ended a 17-year drinking water advisory.
WSP also received high commendations in three categories. In the Circularity category, our Coach Circularity Product Impact Calculator was recognized for advancing sustainable product design through life cycle assessment. In the Sustainability Impact category, the Pledge to Net Zero initiative, co-founded by WSP, AECOM, IEMA, RPS, and SocEnv, was commended for driving climate action and emission reduction in the environmental sector. WSP, alongside partners DEME and ESSO, was also highly commended in the Remediation Project of the Year category for the Former Bowling Terminal Remediation project, which transformed a contaminated fuel site into redevelopment-ready land.
“These achievements reflect our team’s commitment to making a meaningful impact within our own operations, in the work we do for clients, and across the communities we serve,” said André-Martin Bouchard, WSP’s Global Director, Earth and Environment. “I am especially proud of the people and teams who were recognized for their leadership and innovation. It is truly inspiring to see them celebrated for their work and vision – it reinforces the power of our collective efforts to shape a more sustainable future.”
The Sustainability Delivery Awards showcase consultants making significant strides in both their own and their clients’ sustainable transformations. The winners are selected by the Environment Analyst-led, independent judging panel that includes industry experts and analysts and is headed by its Managing Director. SUSTAINABILITY IMPACT AWARD
Pledge to Net Zero (AECOM, IEMA, RPS, SocEnv and WSP)
The Pledge to Net Zero (PTNZ), co-founded by WSP and different partners, drives climate action in the environmental sector. Since 2019, WSP has helped set emission reduction standards and integrate climate action into advisory services. PTNZ signatories have committed to science-based targets, public reporting, and mentorship. With 223 signatories in 2024, WSP leads sustainability efforts for a net zero carbon economy.
CIRCULARITY
Coach Circularity Product Impact Calculator, United States
In 2024, Tapestry launched Coachtopia, a circular fashion sub-brand dedicated to reducing waste and reimagining the fashion industry’s relationship. To reduce negative impacts on the planet while fostering resilience and responsible resource use, Tapestry partnered with WSP USA, leveraging life cycle assessment expertise to create the T-EPIC tool. This system quantifies and reduces product environmental footprints, integrating circularity across Tapestry’s value chain and setting new industry standards. REMEDIATION PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARD
Former Bowling Terminal Remediation, UK (DEME, Esso and WSP)
WSP led the remediation of the former Bowling Terminal, converting a 41-hectare fuel site into redevelopment-ready land for West Dunbartonshire Council. Collaborating with regulators and contractors, WSP developed a risk-based strategy to remove contaminants. Using soil washing and thermal treatment, 77% of materials were reused, preventing 12,100 truck trips, aligning with Scotland’s sustainability goals and fostering investment.
