Landscape Architecture and Urban Design

As part of WSP’s role as lead designer of Old Oak Common station, we delivered the urban realm strategy alongside partners to support the station’s role as a catalyst for reimagining a new West London neighbourhood in Old Oak and Park Royal.

WSP carried out the construction design of the Kaisantunneli – a pedestrian and bicycling tunnel passing under the railway yard at Helsinki's main railway station, as well as the underground Bicycle Parking associated with the tunnel. In addition, we were responsible for the construction design of the tunnel entrances and street areas opening to Kansalaistori square and Kaisaniemi park. The tunnel connects the city center divided by the railway yard with a pedestrian path and bicycle lane, and provides bicycle connection parking under train platforms.

WSP designed a high-quality seaside park in Jätkänsaari, Helsinki. The park area, implemented in stages, was completed in August 2021.

Pre-feasibility design work and planning work for a pioneering hydrogen project that will put the UK at the forefront of net zero innovation. At WSP, we’ve advised gas distribution company Cadent as they lead this energy transition project through its lifecycle and to provide a new way to power the UK’s industry and communities. 

WSP delivered the planning, the street design, furnishing and landscaping for the Esplanade project in Helsinki, Finland.

The Kalasatama-to-Pasila project’s hallmark is excellence in community planning. Our experts are involved in designing the tramline extending from Nihti through Kalasatama Centre to Pasila, as well as numerous streets and green areas associated with the project. 

WSP is helping to recreate the heart of Christchurch with a space that will promote recreation, tourism, business growth and central city living for residents and visitors alike.

This water-led approach helped to create a shared local identity for an iconic, high profile urban environment and to help showcase and unlock the amazing transformation of Wynyard Quarter in Tāmaki Makaurau.
