This distinction particularly recognizes WSP’s support for two of its Quebec City employees, Captain Mohamed Togola, Commanding Officer of 10 Engineer Squadron, 35 Combat Engineer Regiment (35 CER), and Sailor First Class Mathieu Brunet, respectively Bridge and Civil Structures Inspector and Project Manager at WSP in Canada.
The intimate and solemn ceremony took place at WSP’s Quebec City offices. Sylvain Miville, Vice-President, Bridges, Highways and Roads – Quebec, and Christian Bélanger, Market Leader – Eastern Quebec, were in attendance. Bruno Larose, Director, Inspection - Transportation and Infrastructure, received special acknowledgement for his commitment to supporting his reservist employees, helping them balance their professional and military responsibilities.
The Canadian Armed Forces were represented at the ceremony by Colonel (Honorary) Lotfi Ghattas of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council, Chief Warrant Officer Richard Roger, Liaison Officer for Quebec Region, Employer Support Programs, and Chief Warrant Officer Éric St-Gelais, Regimental Sergeant Major of 35 Combat Engineer Regiment.
A solid commitment to military service
The certificate was awarded as part of the Canadian Armed Forces’ With Glowing Hearts program, an initiative that recognizes organizations that support and value the service of their reservist employees. WSP in Canada is wholeheartedly dedicated to fostering a corporate culture that supports and celebrates its employees’ commitments, both professional and personal, as well as their service to the country in the Armed Forces.
WSP in Canada’s military leave policy is one example of this commitment. The company understands the importance of military service, and ensures that employees who are members of Canada’s Reserve Force are able to take the time off they need for training, annual exercises, and operations at home or abroad. Eligible employees, who have generally completed three consecutive months of employment with WSP, continue to accumulate seniority during these leaves of absence. Being flexible and understanding is key to helping WSP team members thrive in all areas of their lives, while also contributing to our country’s security and welfare.
